BT and there Cheek and needing advice!!!?

I am moving back with my father and have now cancel my bt land line and boardband sevices. However BT say that because i am still in the middle of my contract I have to pay a sub charge to cancel it to which it is in there terms and condictions They say I have to pay 拢180.15 final bill.

However BT are a bunch of idiots and I have had nothing but problems with them since day one and wish I never went with them.

They managed to mess up my order, I lost a days pay because of them they have got my bills wrong were they are more than they should be, so in genarlly I am not a happy BT customer.

They cancel my BT at the end of September and I will revice the final bill 7-10 days after for 拢180.15. to which they think I am going to pay like hell I am. I am canceling my DD from my bank.

My question is under what act of pailiment does this fall in to ie.. the bill of exchange act. Whih one should i be looking at?|||This comes under contract law and the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982. You have a contract with BT. You pay them money and they provide a service. Their charges are set out in their terms and conditions, and provided they haven't lied about them, you are bound to pay them.

If BT have failed to provide the service they agreed to, you could claim that the contract is void. BT are still entitled to payment for the services they have actually provided (like the calls you have made) but they can't enforce the contract. You need to decide whether you are prepared to go to court to argue your case.

If you ignore BT, they will go to the County Court, get a CCJ and kill your credit rating.

Wait until you get their final bill. Write them a letter setting out all the areas where they have failed to provide a service, say the contract is void and the disconnection charge is unenforceable - and ask for compensation of 拢180. They will ignore you, send a few final demands and then take out a County Court summons demanding 拢180.15. Complete the defence form, attach a copy of your letter to BT and say you are counterclaiming 拢180. BT will go away and forget the whole thing.|||They do say they can change the broadband and land line to your new address,It is something else to consider if you still want broadband etc.unless due to unfore seen cicumstances you lost your job and it is no longer viable.|||Leave BT and don't let them anywhere near you Bank account again!|||To be honest, I don't think that you have a leg to stand on.

By refusing to pay the early termination fee, you are contravening the terms and conditions of the contract that you voluntarily entered into with BT.

If, however, they have failed to provide a service (if you are using the broadband now then it doesnt look as if they have failed), and you have proof that you have repeatedly informed them of this, then you may be able to negotiate part, if not all of that fee to be removed. Contact Citizens Advice Bureau for legal advice.

|||I had this problem too and was going to get charged loads of money but my bf's mate is a manager at BT and he cancelled it and deleted all my accounts off the computer on the sly so it looked like I'd never had a contract. I will tell you something though, pay it as BT are notorious for charging even more money in late fees, getting bailifs involved and they won't think twice about taking you to court, costing you even more and wrecking your credit rating! Check the small print on your contract, it'll say you will be charged for cancelling early. BT are one of the worst companies I have dealt with, with the worst company services (if you ever get to speak to anyone) x x
